Dr Richard Vickers is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon (OMS) with qualifications in both medicine and dentistry. Dr Vickers attained his Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the University of Adelaide.

Dr Vickers then trained as a medical doctor and surgeon at University of Adelaide and University of Sydney, where he was awarded a Postgraduate Clinical Diploma in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr Vickers also has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Sydney.

He was awarded his Specialist Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (OMS) in 2001 and over the following three years undertook further clinical subspecialty fellowships to further his training in England, Scotland and Ireland. Dr Vickers also undertook further postgraduate clinical training in Houston, Texas. USA in 2003.

Dr Vickers has a special interest in Implants and is a Committee member of the Australian Osseointegration Society (AOS) and previous Clinical Tutor in the Post-graduate Diploma of Implantology course for the University of Sydney.

As an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Dr Vickers has specialised education and training in the complexities of the Bone, Skin, Muscles and Nerves involved, and is uniquely qualified to perform cosmetic procedures involving the functional and aesthetic aspects of the Face, Mouth and jaws.

Dr Vickers has specialist interest in implants where he has had many years of experience in Immediate implant placement as a one stage surgery procedure. Dr Vickers also has extensive experience in All-on-4 implant support bridge surgery and full Arch implant rehabilitation. He is also highly skilled with all facets of piezotome surgery in the jaw bones and has used corrective jaw surgery for many years. This type of surgery can improve chewing, speaking and breathing. While the patient’s appearance may be dramatically enhanced as a result of their surgery, orthognathic surgery is performed to correct functional problems.
